Eagle's Wings

more kidsEagle's Wings provides mentoring, leadership development, and life skills/substance abuse education to youth at risk or involved in the juvenile justice system to prevent and reduce delinquency. It is known for its focus on specialty projects.

Mentoring:

The mentoring program matches youth with community leaders who volunteer as mentors to promote leadership development with school based components.

Baseball:

This program fosters teamwork, encouragement of others, commitment, problem-solving skills, and communication skills. It also provides organized physical activity.

Life skills:

This program provides a skill set to youth that allows them to make the tough choices in their everyday lives. Beyond anger management, the program teaches them to take control of their internal personal power supply. Youth are encouraged to promote willingness and awareness, to delete negative thoughts, to maintain a positive attitude, and to empower them to make better choices.

Chess Club:

This teaches critical thinking structure and strategy in order to master careful planning to achieve certain goals in the classroom. The criteria for this club are children who have a difficult time sitting still or concentrating in the classroom.

Golf Club:

This program teaches team work, healthy habits, using life skills and talents, character building, dealing with peer pressure in a positive way, and using self control.

Abstinence Until Marriage:

This group goes beyond providing the facts about abstinence and preventing teen pregnancy. It seeks to motivate students to change high-risk behavior.

Aquatic Education/Fishing Clinic:

This teaches that fishing is fun. It provides youth with an alternative positive activity and some entertainment that will enlighten them throughout their lives and a positive path to steer them away from drugs. This class teaches knot tying, fish cleaning, casting, equipment demonstrations, etc.

Competitive Jump Rope:

The goal of the Eagle Ridge Institute Competitive Jump Rope Program is to maximize the use of the sport as an educational intervention and social asset in order to enhance the wellness of girls as they navigate between childhood and early womanhood. The project is dedicated to reducing risk behaviors that threaten the health and social advancement of girls aged 10 to 14 years by combining athletic skill instruction and programming with the delivery of educational information.
